Frequently Asked Questions
What’s this campaign all about?
We’re raising funds to build a special place — a home for our urban Indigenous community. It will be a space for culture, connection, healing, learning, and celebration. A place where everyone feels welcome, supported, and proud.
Who are you?
We’re a charitable & a non-for-profit organization led by and for Indigenous people living in the city. We support our community through programs, advocacy, and culture — and now, we're working toward something even bigger: a permanent space to gather and grow.
Where will the new building be located?
1940 Gottingen Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia. At the corner of Rainee Drive and Gottingen Street
Why do we need this building?
Right now, many Indigenous people in the city don’t have access to a dedicated space for cultural practices, support, or community connection. This new building will be that space — for Elders, youth, families, and future generations.
How will my donation be used?
Every dollar you give goes directly toward planning, building, and furnishing our new community space. If we raise more than we need or plans shift, funds will support related programs that serve our mission.
Can I get a tax receipt?
Yes! We’re a registered charity and you’ll receive a tax receipt for any eligible donation over $20 CAD.
Can non-Indigenous people donate or help out?
Of course — and we welcome you with open arms. This is about walking together. Whether you’re Indigenous or not, if you believe in reconciliation, community, and inclusion, we’d love your support.
Are there ways to help besides donating?
Absolutely! You can spread the word on social media. You can become a community sponsor or a monthly donor. Got an idea? Let’s chat - contact us at Contact@mymnfc.com or (902) 420 - 1576
How can I stay in the loop?
We’d love to keep you updated! Follow us on social media or check back on this website for updates as we build.
Is this project tied to one Nation or group?
We serve a diverse urban Indigenous community — including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Our work is guided by Indigenous leadership, values, and cultural teachings.
