The Concept

Our Plan…

The Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Society has an ambitious plan to replace its current facility which presents significant limitations in serving a growing and diverse Indigenous urban population.

We are making great progress in this ongoing quest to relocate and augment programming to respond to the evolving needs of  he growing population of those we serve.

The vision is to develop a new, iconic Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre that includes an important and broader cultural component in the province’s capital, Halifax.

Advancing this project following the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report (TRC), and the ongoing work associated with this, I can happily report that efforts to find a new home for the MNFC have been well-received and broadly supported, including prominent reference in Halifax’s Indigenous Engagement Strategy.
